Last night Ester Drang performed live at the Empty Bottle in Chicago. This show was pure amazement to me. The band has an ambient sound that makes you daze out into a deep trance without even being on drugs. They added to the environment by projecting different images onto a screen that matched the songs. When the show was over, I was wondering where all the time went.
Ester Drang is a must for fans of Antarctica, Ova Looven and American Football. The new CD on Jade Tree Records is called on is called Rocinate.
This was my first time seeing a concert at the Empty Bottle. The place looks like a dingy run- down bar from the outside, but don't judge a book by its cover. This old brick Ukrainian Village venue is a great place to catch live music. Its small environment makes the performance feel very intimate. On this night with fewer people, it was easy to view the band. If you don't feel like standing, one corner of the place has steps that you can sit on.
