The New Pornographers been referred to as an "indie supergroup", but don't tell that to band founder A.C. Newman. He thinks that's just a clever term used by the record label to sell more albums. The truth is they are a "supergroup" on the indie scene receiving more and more accolades with each album they unleash.
If you haven't already, you should check out the band's recent release Twin Cinema, a power-pop, hook laden piece of paradise. It's the Vancouver seven member group's third full-length album.
The New Pornographers are currently on tour with Belle and Sebastian. Tour dates across the country have been selling out fast and Chicago is no exception. The only way to get in to the March 10th Riv show is to take your chances with ebay or you could beat up your friend that's holding tickets. I suggest the former; the latter would be very mean and a little too metal for a New Poronographers show.
